See Paris Through The Eyes Of Obsessive
Charming cafes on Saint Germain. The lavish world of the Moulin Rouge cabaret. And the Eiffel Tower whose sight we’ll never get tired of. During our photo shoot with Julia Kamińska we uncovered the most beautiful places in Paris for you.
The Incredible Boulevard Saint Germain
If you want to know a place that is the essence of Paris – this is it. Locals and tourists from all over the world stroll down the Boulevard Saint Germain to admire the sumptuous Parisian architecture, to which the city owes its one-of-a-kind atmosphere. You can reach St. Germain by numerous bridges connecting both banks of the Seine River. You can also cross the boulevard by a city bike or scooter. It’s worth visiting to make a stop at the famous Cafe de Flore and have an Americano at one of the outdoor tables. Take a peek (even just through the window) into one of the luxurious fashion boutiques sitting on each side of the boulevard, or enter one of the quiet side alleys and take a walk to the Latin Quarter – another tourist attraction full of restaurants that offer all kinds of world cuisines, cafes, theaters, the botanical garden, and the Museum of Natural History.
The Eiffel Tower? Always!
Even if we’re in Paris for the hundredth time, we won’t get tired of its view. To be in Paris and not see the Eiffel Tower is like being in Italy and not having pizza! France doesn’t have an equally famous symbol, and Paris has no other place that would attract millions of visitors from all over the world as much as the tower does all year round. In our opinion, neither is there a more beautiful place on the Seine to take a memorable photo (or, as in our case, have a beautiful photo shoot). It’s worth waiting until late in the evening, when the Eiffel Tower flashes a million lights (once a year, in October, it glows pink as a symbol of the fight against breast cancer). But ascending the viewing deck at its top during the day and getting a 360-degree view of Paris, the city of love, is just as magnificent of an experience. Parisians celebrate life’s special moments by having dinner at one of the neighborhood restaurants whose terrace overlooks the Eiffel Tower. And we can’t blame them at all. Such evenings can’t be forgotten!
Stop At Trocadéro
The Paris metro stops right at the Trocadéro Square. Getting there is easy and costs as much as the ticket – there’s no excuse not to see it. Impressive in size, Trocadéro attracts all those who want to see the Eiffel Tower from a different perspective, and necessarily take a picture there (it’s one of the most popular photo spots in the city, which we also sedulously made use of). It offers a breathtaking view of the area, with the Champ de Mars surrounding the tower. We recommend taking a stroll from the square along the spectacular esplanade to the Trocadéro Gardens, and then crossing the river on foot by the Pont d’Iéna to find yourself at the carousel, which looks like it came straight from a fairy tale.
Luxury In Place Vendôme
If you want to get a feel of true luxury, this is the best place. In Place Vendôme, everything is top notch. The hotel that stands there – the Parisian Ritz – has a beautiful history (for many years Coco Chanel lived in one of the apartments). The boutiques in the area sell the fanciest watches and the prettiest jewelry handmade by the most skilled jewelers. And the restaurants situated in the nearby townhouses serve the most exquisite French cuisine. Once you’ve taken in the sight of Place Vendôme (considered one of the most beautiful in the world), it’s time to head over to the Louvre, the Paris Opera, the Tuileries Gardens, or the Galeries Lafayette department store. All of them are literally steps away from the square.
All Of The Louvre’s Treasures
The paintings, the sculptures, the place... For those of you who love art, the Louvre is a must-stop on your Paris tour. Under its roof, the Louvre houses over 380,000 works of the world’s most prominent painters and sculptors, with Leonardo da Vinci’s famous “Mona Lisa” at the helm (every day visitors wait in long lines to see it). Only a portion of them is shown to the public – if you want to see them all, you’re in for a 15-kilometer walk through 255 exhibition halls! We find the building itself stunning, with its modern glass towers in the courtyard. It’s a former royal palace – it’s worth learning about its extraordinary history.
A Stroll Around The Champs Elysees
At less than 2 kilometers long, it’s the most famous street in the world and certainly the most famous street in Paris. The Champs Elysees connect the Arc de Triomphe with the Place de la Concorde square. It’s a street not only mentioned in numerous songs, but also a great shopping area (although unfortunately not the cheapest one). Many global brands make it their point of honor to open a store on the Champs Elysees – that’s why the choice here is remarkable: from popular clothing chain stores to luxury car dealerships. We were amazed with the Champs Elysees at sunset, when they sparkled with thousands of lights coming from cars that were...stuck there in traffic.
An Unforgettable Evening At The Moulin Rouge
We can’t imagine a better ending to a visit in Paris than an evening spent on the Montmartre with an obligatory visit at the Moulin Rouge cabaret. If anyone has seen Baz Luhrmann’s movie of the same title with a great performance by Nicole Kidman, they got a glimpse of what to expect. It’s a revue you won’t see anywhere else: with a feast of colors and breathtaking costumes at a world-class artistic level. Moulin Rouge is the quintessence of what is most Parisian, and a new source of inspiration for us. The corsets and fishnet pantyhose stockings of the Moulin Rouge dancers are true works of art that we couldn’t take our eyes off of! Moulin Rouge had us swooning from the very first minute. Who knows, maybe it’ll be the spot for our next photo shoot?
