Besides that, there are performances involving fire eating, dancing, and acrobatics, and all this is presided over by the mythological king of chaos, Momus.

There’s no talk of chaos in Brazil though – the most famous carnival in the world in Rio de Janeiro is a logistic masterpiece. The schools of samba that fight for the title of the carnival champion prepare all year for their performance at the parade. No wonder – the jury must be taken aback by their choreography, music, and dancers’ costumes. The fabulously colorful, richly feather and sequin-decorated costumes cost a fortune, can weigh up to 40 kg (88 pounds), and the making of them sometimes takes even a couple of months.
